GAGGENAU NEW SPACES

The view is breathtaking, sweeping from the high-rise skyline of Manhattan and the Empire State Building over the majestic Brooklyn Bridge and the reflecting, rippling water of New York harbour to the Statue of Liberty in the distance. From time to time a gigantic black clock hand obscures the view — because these aren’t just any normal windows; they are the 4.5metrehigh faces of four enormous clocks on the 16th floor of the Clock Tower Building. The building’s address is One Main Street in the hip borough of Brooklyn, across the East River from Manhattan. The penthouse apartment is on three floors and features 340 square metres of living space. An interior glass lift ascends to the bedrooms. For the kitchen area on the first level, the designer Stefano Venier used furniture from the Italian company Minimal and Gaggenau household appliances, including a large RC 472 refrigerator from the Vario 400 series with a net volume of 477 litres, the RW 404 wine climate cabinet, the BO 280 double oven from the 200 series, five Vario cooking appliances and two dishwashers. The kitchen island alone is eight metres long. David Walentas, the property’s developer, is asking 25 million US dollars for the luxury apartment. It has attracted the interest of potential buyers including the rapper Jay-Z and his wife BeyoncĂ©, as well as the fashion designer Ralph Lauren.
